For those of us who like to travel with a lot of items, finding a good suitcase can be tough. You need something durable yet light enough to help you meet airline weight restrictions. In this IT Luggage review, I’ll tell you if their “World’s Lightest” suitcases offer the solution.
The Pros and Cons of IT Luggage
Pros
Cons
The Verdict
IT lightweight luggage represents solid value if you find yourself constantly struggling to keep your suitcases within airline weight limits. While lightweight luggage from other brands can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, this brand’s offerings are much more widely-attainable.
In exchange for affordability, you sacrifice some of the reassuring solidity that more expensive suitcases provide, however.
In my opinion, this is a sign that the designers at IT Luggage understand their audience. The people I know who are interested in lightweight luggage fall into one of two categories:
- Budget-focused consumers who are willing to forgo luxury.
- Affluent performance enthusiasts who drive cars with carbon fiber parts just because.
IT Luggage clearly caters itself towards the former. The IT Luggage 31.5-Inch World’s Lightest 8 Wheel Spinner (the brand’s best product, in my opinion) is a great example of this.
Why Should You Buy IT Luggage?
IT Luggage is worth considering for several reasons.
Reputation
It can be hard to predict how a suitcase will hold up over the long haul if all you have to go by are some pictures and specifications online. I’ve even had trouble properly gauging build quality when handing new suitcases in stores.
Thankfully, judging IT Luggage’s products is very easy given their many reviews on Amazon. You’ll find that people are generally very happy with the products. You’ll get many trips out of them and they deliver exactly what they promise: reliability in a lightweight package.
Warranty & Customer Service
Many luggage manufacturers at this price point farm their customer service out to third parties that offer terrible service. That doesn’t seem to be the case with IT Luggage. Amazon reviews of the company indicate that they handle customer service well.
IT Luggage replacement wheels, zippers, and other parts are readily available, for example.
As further proof of the brand’s integrity, one might refer to their “Modern Slavery Act Transparency Statement” which details efforts made to ensure all of their labor is sourced ethically.
Highly Functional
First and foremost, IT Luggage’s products are (as advertised) lightweight. The brand achieves this by producing each suitcase’s frame from fiberglass. Suitcase exteriors are typically made from thin fabric.
Some of IT Luggage’s lightweight options weigh nearly half as much as traditional suitcases of the same size.
The best part is that you don’t sacrifice any of the other functionality you’d expect from your luggage. You’ll still find plenty of practical interior and exterior compartments. All suitcases also come with top and side carry handles.
Lots of Options to Choose From
IT Luggage comes in so many different colors, sizes, and styles. As you’ll see in our individual product review section, the brand offers both masculine and feminine options.
Because they’re priced so reasonably, you may even find yourself wanting to buy one of their understated sets for business use and a bolder one (such as the Black Las Vegas Fun Icon Set) for leisurely travel.
Is Anything Bad About IT Luggage?
Few luggage manufacturers are perfect, especially at this price point.
The biggest gripe you’ll likely have with IT Luggage’s products is that they lack the reassuringly solid feeling you’d find with pricier sets. This isn’t helped by the fact that the suitcases are so light.
Given the build quality, I would expect to get a few years of solid use (say, two trips annually) from one of these suitcases. You may even find it lasts longer if you don’t handle it roughly. I still wouldn’t bet on the product lasting decades, though.
The only other negative thing I have to say about IT Luggage is that some of their designs aren’t the most ergonomic. You’ll find a few of the handles very wide and difficult to steer with.
This doesn’t seem like part of the effort to keep the suitcases lightweight as the handles are still very rigidly built. It just seems like an odd choice on otherwise well-designed bags.
IT Luggage Reviews
As mentioned earlier, IT Luggage reviews online are primarily positive. Here are a few reviews of their 31.5-Inch World’s Lightest 8-Wheel Spinner.

Our Top-Rated Products
Now that you know a bit about IT Luggage as a brand, let’s take a look at some of their most highly-rated products.
IT Luggage World’s Lightest 31.5-Inch 8 Wheel Lightweight Spinner
While IT Luggage carry-ons and large suitcases are all made with reducing weight in mind, their “World’s Lightest” product line takes this to the next level. This is partially why I believe it to be the brand’s best product.
Here are some other things you should know.
Remarkably Light for a Full-Size Suitcase
Many carry-on suitcases (including one mentioned further down in this review) weigh upwards of 5.9 pounds. That makes this full-sized suitcase’s 5.29-pound weight all the more remarkable.
These “World’s Lightest” suitcases take all of IT Luggage’s weight-reducing tricks and kick them up a notch. The construction is very lean, with no frills. If you end up over the weight limit even with these features, you’re definitely an extreme over-packer.
Still Comes with Easy Maneuverability
A lot of other lightweight suitcases compromise on wheel design. Thankfully, IT Luggage hasn’t done that. You still get a robust dual-wheeled spinner system that makes traversing on different terrain very easy.
That’s a nice touch considering this is one of those suitcases that I mentioned earlier with a perplexingly wide telescopic handle. If there wasn’t a good set of wheels on it, maneuvering would be very difficult.
Cheap Enough to Assuage Fears about Durability
Some of this bag’s reviewers have raised concerns about its durability. That’s understandable. Part of what makes it so lightweight is the lack of padding and extra material that would create a more rigid feeling.
For the price, however, you can’t complain. The value proposition is clear; you get a very lightweight suitcase you can take on a few adventures before having to replace it for a modest sum of money.
IT Luggage Duotone 4-Wheel Lightweight 3-Piece Set
Luggage type: Softside
Dimensions:
Large: 30.1 x 18.9 x 10.6 inches
Medium: 26.2 x 16.9 x 9.8 inches
Small: 21 x 14 x 8.5 inches
Good All-Around Luggage Set
If you’re looking to buy just one luggage set that you can use for both business and leisure, you’d have a hard time beating this product.
As far as IT Luggage sets go, this is arguably their most aesthetically pleasing. As the product’s name would suggest, its defining feature is a dual-tone color scheme. The black and grey version looks particularly classy.
Easy to Maneuver
If you’ve ever found yourself running late on your way to the airport, you know how important it is to have an easily-maneuverable suitcase.
This IT Luggage set doesn’t suffer from the odd handle design I mentioned earlier. Instead, the handle is shaped like what you’d find on a conventional suitcase. This makes it much easier to grip and steer with.
Another feature that adds to this set’s maneuverability is the weight of each suitcase. While IT Luggage doesn’t provide any official numbers, they felt much lighter than other suitcases I compared them to.
Extensive Storage Space
Even the carry-on in this set is surprisingly large. This is all thanks to the lack of thick padding that you’d find in suitcases not meant to be lightweight.
In other words, while each suitcase in this set is standard-sized for its type, IT Luggage has removed a lot of the padding and extra material that adds weight.
Best for Transporting Clothes
While the lack of padding is great for cutting down on weight, it does mean that you’ll likely want to avoid packing anything that could break. This shouldn’t be an issue if most of your luggage consists of clothes.
Betsey Johnson IT Luggage Skulls 20-Inch Designer Carry-On
Very Unique Look
Designer Betsey Johnson (who crafted this suitcase) is known for her “over the top” and “whimsical” designs. Those characteristics definitely shine through with this head-turning suitcase. It looks like something a 2000s pop-punk enthusiast would carry on their way to a Day of the Dead festival in Mexico.
Compared to other designer suitcases on the market, it’s also pretty affordable.
Solid Protection
This is one of the few IT Luggage hardshell options on the market. If you need to place breakables in your carry-on yet still want something lightweight, this is a good choice.
The IT Luggage Skulls suitcase is made from ABS and polycarbonate, the latter of which is uncommon at this price point.
Combined, these materials offer more impact resistance than you’d get with ABS alone and at a much more reasonable price than you’d find with pure polycarbonate.
Great Wheels for a Carry-On
IT Luggage’s spinners on this suitcase are surprisingly well-built for a carry-on. Each spinner has two wheels, which makes it a lot easier to get traction on various surfaces.
This is an easily-overlooked yet vital feature. I find that if a lightweight suitcase doesn’t have wheels with good traction, I end up inadvertently carrying or dragging it, which causes more wear.
High Ratings
Consumers outside of IT Luggage’s intended audience for this suitcase may find themselves wondering, “who would buy that?!” A quick look at the product’s Amazon reviews, however, will reveal that there are quite a few people who love it.
Personally, I feel more comfortable buying a suitcase that has lots of positive reviews. As such, I really appreciate this carry-on’s plethora of praise.
IT Luggage Megalite Fascia 21.5-Inch Expandable Carry-On
If the ‘skull party’ aesthetics of the previous suitcase are a bit too much for your tastes, you may prefer this classier option. The IT Luggage Megalite Fascia still comes in the lightweight form factor you’d expect from the brand.
Great for Privacy
While the IT Luggage Megalite Fascia is considered a carry-on suitcase, it also comes with a built-in TSA lock. You’ll find this handy if you frequently check your carry-on in at your gate or stay in hotels where privacy is a concern.
Very Comfortable
Flimsy side-carry handles are among my luggage pet peeves. The IT Luggage Megalite Fascia does not have that issue. Its handles are very graciously-padded and incorporated into a unique design that takes up the entire side of the suitcase.
This makes it easy to get a good grip without feeling like your shoulder and the handle are competing to see who can get ripped out of place first.
Very Durable
The IT Megalite Fascia is surprisingly durable for a softside suitcase. Its widebody construction offers more padding than you’d find on items in the Duotone set.
This makes it a good crossover between some of IT Luggage’s softside suitcases. I wouldn’t have an issue placing breakable items inside this suitcase but it’s also quite light and easy to carry around.
Some More Colors Would Be Nice
If you’re not a fan of the teal hue this suitcase comes in, you’re out of luck. IT Luggage doesn’t offer it in any other color, which is a shame.
The build quality is still good enough that I wouldn’t have trouble overlooking this minor gripe. However, if you’re the type of person who enjoys color-coordinating their luggage and outfit, you may disagree.
Conclusion
IT Luggage is a brand specializing in affordable lightweight suitcases. If that’s what you seek, it’s hard to go wrong here. The company’s products are strong enough to instill confidence despite their lightweight nature yet cheap enough to replace without hassle if something goes wrong.
The overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon also indicate that IT Luggage handles customer service quite well.
It’s very rare that you find something as creatively-designed and audience-appropriate as the IT Luggage 31.5-Inch World’s Lightest 8 Wheel Spinner, which is why I’d consider it to be the brand’s best product.
